A Quick Note on Programming
You may have noticed that I haven’t written a new newsletter in a few weeks (if you hadn’t noticed, please keep that to yourself). I’ve been working on some other things, but I’ve also been thinking a little about some possible changes to Undrafted.
I’ve been doing this newsletter for close to four years now, but I’ve never been exactly sure how to define it. Should I write short posts or long posts? Is it socialist content for sports fans, or sports content for socialists? Should I be responding to whatever the current sports conversation is about, or should I write about things that interest me, regardless of their topicality? How many posts should be 100% serious, and how many should be fun thought experiments? I’ve never really figured out the precise answers to these questions…
Mostly, I’ve tried to do a little of everything, while also keeping a semi-regular posting schedule, but I’ve been thinking recently that I haven’t really experimented enough with what Undrafted could be. So over the next few weeks, I’m going to try playing around with different formats for the newsletter. That might mean further stretches where I don’t post at all, it might mean some days where I post multiple times, it might mean some posts that don’t work at all — I don’t really know. That’s kind of the point.
Thanks in advance for bearing with me throughout…
P.S. If you, as a dearly beloved reader, have THOUGHTS on what you’d like to see more or less of in Undrafted, feel free to share them. Even if it’s as simple as, “John, this post sucked, don’t do it again.” You can just reply to the email, and I’ll see it, or leave it as a comment.
