I’m too nervous about this weekend’s Duke/UNC matchup to come up with anything clever to say about this month in Undrafted, but it was a fun month, with a new podcast miniseries! Check it out if you haven’t already:
March Stories
A look back at the one-and-done era, which more and more looks like a thing of the past. The rise of the transfer portal and the G-League seem to have ushered in a new era for college basketball.
The story of UMBC’s 2018 upset of #1 Virginia seems newly relevant this year, in light of Saint Peter’s beating Kentucky. The Peacocks’ run to the Elite Eight somewhat obscured just how unlikely their first-round win really was. I’m not sure the tournament has ever seen a bigger upset—except, of course, for UMBC. (Thanks to Zac McCord for joining on this one.)
The story of Rutgers’ surprise Final Four run in 2007 seems almost quaint to discuss in a year of so many upsets in the women’s tournament. On the other hand, that year’s Final Four had only two 1-seeds, and this year’s was one overtime away from having all four make it. Special thanks to Bryan Quimby from Street Fight Radio for providing context on Don Imus for this one.

We obviously couldn’t let the Tournament start without our leftist picks.

Pro sports teams are the original NFTs, in that their value comes from an artificial scarcity that inflates the resale of the asset.
This post was responsible for ending the lockout, I bet.
